Charlotte, NC – Three Texas Hill Country Towns – specifically, Fredericksburg, New Braunsfels and Kerrville – have been named as a Texas Top Retirement Hotspot to be featured in the upcoming Jan./Feb./March, 2010 quarterly edition of Retirement Lifestyles, a 10-year-old magazine that highlights locations, communities and lifestyles for prospective retirees across the United States. The magazine says that The Hill Country and these three towns are “worth a look” in Texas.

“Our staff really loves The Hill Country of Texas, but had trouble picking one of the three choices over another. The bottom line is if you are looking for a quaint, scenic small town with friendly people in Texas, you will want to visit and consider these three towns,” said Retirement Lifestyles Executive Editor Dan Owens.

“The Hill Country is the center of the state’s wine industry and its an explosion of cultures with Spanish, German, Austrian, Swiss and Czech influences. The people are generally delightful and retirees will see a lot of folks with gray hair who have already settled in the Hill Country,” Owens added.

Retirement Lifestyles magazine focuses on communities and retiree lifestyles in 11 southern states:  Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida, Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. The award-winning magazine often highlights smaller towns that are “under the radar” of the national media.

“As baby boomers age, there will be an increasing interest in finding unspoiled smaller communities with great natural assets and a good quality of life,” Owens said. “Many retirees need an information source like Retirement Lifestyles to learn more about great lifestyle communities.

Retirement Lifestyles, which has approximately 100,000 readers each quarterly issue, was named the 2nd Best Magazine for 55+ Readers – just behind AARP – in 2009 by the national Mature Market Media Awards (www.seniorawards.com).

The best thing to do when planning to travel is keep a note pad handy and write whatever you feel you need to carry starting about 15 days in advance.
